In October 2016, Elon Musk revealed SolarCity's glass solar roof panels. This week, the first panels have been fitted onto the roofs of some houses and are now generating the electricity for these.
The panels have been designed to look like ordinary roof tiles, as many current solar roof panels leave people divided on the aesthetics. These panels then capture the sunlight and are able to convert it into electric energy.
The initial installations have happened on the roofs of the houses of Tesla employees however many pre-orders have been made and are due for installation at the end of 2017 and start of 2018.
What do you think?
"Solar Roof is more affordable than conventional roofs because in most cases, it ultimately pays for itself by reducing or eliminating a home’s electricity bill" (Tesla).
So, the Solar Roof costs less per square metre, is more cost efficient over a long period of time AND they look great... Looks like a success to us!
