Job Title: Sales Engineer

Salary & Benefits: Up to £60,000 depending upon experience, Plus Bonuses, Plus Excellent Benefits Package and Holidays, Including Company Car

Location: South West London

An excellent opportunity to join a cross-industry provider of complex test systems; providing solutions to the major Aerospace, Defence & Space Primes (Tier1) as well as the platform manufacturers and defence contractors who require a skilled Sales Engineer to join their team. 

This role is based in South West London but an extensive amount of UK travel including regular trips to our South Coast HQ and some European travel will be required.  This company has entered an exciting growth phase and is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Sales Engineer to expand its footprint further. This company has a strong core of technological building blocks (software, electronic, systems etc.) developed under a substantial annual group investment in R&D.  The Company is a leading provider of complex test solutions from design to manufacture and support across many different industries and countries.

Sales Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Science (electronics, physics/mathematics, computer science) or business administration with a minimum 3 years of related experience
  • Demonstrable experience of new business/account development with Tier 1 customers in a variety of industries (Aerospace, Energy, Defence, Space)
  • Proven track record in meeting or exceeding targets
  • High level of computer software proficiency to accomplish responsibilities
  • You should have a motivated personality with a keen sense of selling, negotiation skills and powers of persuasion
  • This exciting role requires an individual with a natural and intuitive sales ability who has a proven ‘Hunter’ mentality in similar business environments
  • You will need to be persuasive, convincing, have a passion for winning, be autonomous, driven and motivated and be able to build lasting relationships with your clients
  • Need to engage with customers whose levels within their organisations range from Test Engineers up to C-suite Executives
  • Ability to navigate complex organisations, identifying the blockers, influencing the decision makers, convincing the technical authorities and driving the establishment of winning bids
  • Ability to build long-term & effective relationships with clients quickly
  • You will have mastered effective presentation skills (technical and business) and have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with Resilience and tenacity and be Independent, curious and creative
  • A full driving licence

Sales Engineer Responsibilities:     

  • You will be promoting solutions and concepts rather than portfolio products
  • A consultative pre-sales profile is required rather than a product selling profile
  • Work closely with Managing Director & business units to manage the order pipeline, internal forecasting tools, account roadmaps
  • Promoting and selling bespoke test solutions tailored to client’s particular needs
  • Resolving these challenges requires a good level of investigative activity to shape the solution with the engineering teams
  • Working with external partners to get the right answers and reach the winning price point
  • Owning a range of UK based key accounts and prospects that you will have to manage and grow in conjunction with other Account Managers
  • Drive the sales process around your opportunities
  • Responsible for the entire business life-cycle, from identification and development of an opportunity through to order acceptance
  • Ultimately responsible for proposing the right price, for the right solution to the end customer
  • You will be given a range of key accounts and opportunities to track and convert into sales orders as well as a range of prospect and potential leads
  • You will be embedded into the existing Sales Team of the Commercial Business Unit and will report directly to the MD of the company
  • The role is based in a satellite office in South West London
  • Achieving (as a minimum) and exceeding your annual sales targets
  • Required to ensure efficient communication with the bidding teams (Engineering) and other business units
