Job Title: Bids Manager

Salary & Benefits: up to £40,000 depending upon experience plus Pension, Life Assurance, Health Scheme etc

Location: Edgware

An electronics manufacturer, based in Edgware, is looking for an organised and commercially aware Bids Manager to support the commercial aspects of the company. The Bids Manager will be responsible for providing strong working commercial knowledge and support, acumen and advisory service across all departments within the business, in particular to the Sales and Programme functions. The role will ideally suit someone who is an experienced contract or commercial manager within an electronics or defence industry. The role of the Commercial function is to support the achievement of the bids financial/strategic objectives, to ensure compliance with ethical and contractual undertakings and to ensure the commercial integrity of commitments being made on behalf of the company.

Bids Manager Requirements:

* At least 5 years minimum experience in a similar role
* Degree Level or equivalent
* Formal legal training/IACCM would be an advantage but not essential
* Previous professional experience ideally gained within the Defence industry or within a similar international and interdisciplinary environment
* Extensive knowledge of UK and International contracting and commercial principles and legislation
* Thorough knowledge of UK MoD terms of contracting DEFCONS & DEFFORMS, with a good working knowledge of the US DoD FARS & DFARS
* Experience of bidding to and managing contracts in the UK and international defence and security markets
* Demonstrable negotiation skills with successful experience of operating in UK and international markets
* Good working knowledge of UK Export Controls and Intellectual Property legislations
* Excellent proven understanding of drafting a wide range of contractual documentation
* Independent-minded, structured and organised whilst being flexible and adaptable as the requirement arises

Bids Manager Responsibilities:

* Acting as the dedicated bid manager for bid opportunities, which requires liaising with all relevant departments to ensure that sufficient information is collated
* Generating Proposal Documentation matched to Customer requirements and drafting Firm/Fixed/ROM responses to RFP/RFQ/ITTS
* Undertaking a commercial review of the full suite of proposal documents
* Ensuring that proposals to customer are priced, developed and approved in accordance with company procedures
* Responsible for ensuring the commercial integrity of submitted tenders and proposals
* Working with relevant teams to ensure acceptable cash flow and payment profiles are contractually agreed
* Present commercial aspects of proposals at internal bid reviews, to all levels of seniority
* Delivery of offset and industrial participation obligations on contracts within area of responsibility
* Supporting the business with all contract and commercial management expertise during the lifecycle of the contract and programme
* Responsible for generating and negotiating a suite of contractual documents, such as, Supply and Purchase Contracts, Confidentiality Agreements, US Technical Assistance
* Generating Agreements (TAAs) Teaming Agreements, Licensing Agreements, Standard Terms and Conditions, Escrow, and other Intellectual Property Right Agreements
* Prepare and negotiate new contracts and amendments to existing contracts and arrange for their approval
* Conduct and support negotiations with customers to achieve the best position for the company which reflects the agreed "sign-off" position
* Work closely with the Procurement team to ensure flow down of appropriate supplier terms into project contracts
* Review customer terms and conditions and advise on risks, cost drivers and propose acceptable commercial positions, to the Business Unit
* Day-to-day managing of contracts, including customer relationship management.
