Senior Controls Engineer

SENIOR CONTROLS ENGINEER

Industry: Manufacturing

Salary & Benefits: up to £60,000pa DOE + generous benefits (incl. pension of up to 11%, bonus up to 15% & 30 days holiday)

Location: Cambridge

Multi-national manufacturing company require an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join their Engineering department. Reporting in directly to the Project Manager, this role will encompass both design and hands-on engineering activities within system design, creation, controls design and test / validation.

Senior Controls Engineer Requirements:

* Engineering degree in an Electrical/Computer Science discipline or equivalent qualification / experience (minimum HND + 5 years' experience)
* A professional registration / chartership within an Engineering body would be very beneficial
* Proven experience of IEC 611313-3 PLC Software
* Programming experience in .NET, C++, C#, Jscript, HTML, XML and COM+
* Good knowledge of field-bus systems (DeviceNet, Ethercat and RS485 Modbus)
* Good working knowledge of PLC and Safety programming and the design of automation technology such as drives and pneumatic control
* Experience in working with LABWindows
* Sound knowledge of the integration of control software in systems
* Knowledge of software test and qualification procedures
* Any experience of Beckhoff PLC's and E-Plan design software would be very beneficial

Senior Controls Engineer Responsibilities:

* Design, implementation and testing of control software (PLC including IEC 611313-3, .net, C#, C++) for a variety of integrated applications
* Design and validate safety software, risk assessments and safety systems
* Test and commission of controls and systems
* PLC Programming using Beckhoff PLC systems
* Willing to travel nationally and internationally where required
