Mechanical Fitter Requirements:
Minimum Four Years Mechanical Fitter Experience
Experience preferably on larger plant and capital equipment
Time Served or Apprentice Trained
Ability to Read Drawings, Fault Find, Rectify , Modify and Refit
Experience of Mechanical strip downs, inspections, modifications
Mechanical Fitter Responsibilities:
Mechanical strip down, inspection, modification and fitting of main and sub assembly components
Disassembly, Cleaning, Inspection and Re-assembly of mechanical systems, particularly transmission systems, gearboxes and rotating equipment
Use of technical drawings to interpret the presented information into an inspection report and subsequent assembly
Use of engineering measuring equipment such as micrometers and DTI's to check tolerances against a specification and report findings
Maintain good quality and efficiency
Use of overhead and Jib cranes to move heavy equipment safely
Read drawings, identify components, assemble, repair or modify mechanical equipment
Flexibility of skills to carry out testing, basic wiring and mechanical fitting
Maintain good housekeeping, awareness of and adherence to health and safety requirements
Involvement in improvement activities as required
Ability to complete technical documentation as work progresses
To perform other duties as assigned from time to time
