On May 2nd 70 years ago Sir James Dyson was born.
Founder of the Dyson company, James Dyson is best known for inventing the Dual Cyclone bagless vacuum cleaner and the Airblade hand dryer.
His earliest invention, in 1970, was the re-make of the wheelbarrow - named the Ballbarrow. Since then he pursued his passion to create new products that function better than anything before them. He launched his bagless vacuum cleaner in 1986 and introduced it to Britain in 1993. Within 2 years it became the country’s best selling vacuum cleaner.
James' other inventions included the ContraRotator washing machine and, more recently, in April 2016 Dyson launched the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer.
Dyson has two UK sites and in early 2017, Dyson announced that they were opening a new research and development centre in Wiltshire.
Happy birthday James Dyson!
