One of our consistently top-performing Consultant’s, Sam has been with us here at ProTech Recruitment for 3 years now. Initially, a part-time Consultant working within our Defence and Aerospace Team placing Contractors, and now a full-time Consultant for our Life Sciences Team, continuing to work as a Specialist Contractor Recruiter, Sam has gone from strength to strength.
As with many of us Recruiters, Sam did not choose Recruitment; Recruitment chose Sam! Initially, she worked in Automotive Recruitment as an Administrator. Her employees soon recognised her potential to become a Recruitment Consultant, encouraging her to make the move, recognising her transferable skills and her fun, outgoing, warm personality. The rest as they say is history.
Currently, Sam recruits within the Life Sciences, spanning Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology Clients. Roles she is usually recruiting for within these sectors include: Quality Engineers, Validation Engineers and Scientists, Regulatory Affairs Managers, Project Managers and Project Engineers.
So what does Sam enjoy about working in Recruitment?
“The Buzz! The highs, the fast pace of it, the pride and satisfaction in making a placement, winning a new Client, delivering the news to a Candidate that they got the job!!”
Building long-lasting and sustainable relationships is the key to success, she says. Sam’s ability in maintaining long-term candidate and client relationships, recognising the importance of providing consistent, quality and genuine communication and input is testament to this.
Some of her original Contractors from her Aerospace/Defence days still work for her despite the fact she has moved to the Life Sciences sector. There are more similarities than you might think: both the Life Sciences and Aerospace and Defence sectors are highly regulated industries and Contractors in both will often display sought after transferable skills and experience.
Sam says “You must always have empathy, and never forget to keep everyone; candidates and clients in the loop, providing feedback at every stage of the recruitment process.”
As a result of Sam’s professional, hard-working and friendly approach, it is not just candidates who stick with her! Clients have been known to seek out her services because of the quality reputation she has built up.

So why ProTech? What is it that keeps you happy at work and able to perform to the best of your ability?
“It’s a fun, sociable place to work, with a friendly office environment!” She adds she has a good relationship with her Team Manager, and the Directors which always helps.
As a company, ProTech is always looking to improve, to innovate and to embrace new technology ahead of the rest! This drive demonstrated by our Directors manifests in the motivation of our Consultants.
The highlight of her career at ProTech so far has got to be the all-expenses paid trip to Budapest which was a reward for meeting Team Targets. The hotel was amazing and they all had a great time.
Her biggest achievement so far has been cultivating and subsequently winning a Major Client from a Lead. She achieved this by nurturing the relationship and never giving up. She was rewarded with a high volume of vacancies and a strong working relationship. Evidence of this strength is illustrated by the fact that when the Contact left and went to another company, Sam managed to capitalise on this and become a major part of her Contact’s new Company’s recruitment strategy.
Outside of life at ProTech, Sam is married with two children aged 15 and 11, and has a dog called Brian. She likes nothing more than spending quality time with her family and friends. She’s partial to the odd pair of very sparkly trainers, she loves a bit of animal print in her wardrobe, and has surprised herself by becoming a regular morning gym-goer; circuit training, spinning and boxing her way to fitness with her colleagues before work!
