We are looking for a skilled and experienced CNC Turner to join a high-performance precision manufacturing team in Reading. This role is ideal for a machinist who specialises in CNC lathes and turning centres, with a passion for quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement. You'll be responsible for producing complex turned components to exacting standards, often working to tight tolerances and lead times. This role is on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:
* Set, operate, and adjust CNC lathes to machine precision components
* Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
* Load and inspect tooling, set tool offsets, and edit CNC programs at the machine
* Carry out first-off, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, gauges, CMMs)
* Ensure all work meets strict quality and dimensional tolerances
* Deburr and finish components as required
* Work to production schedules and optimise cycle times without compromising quality
* Support sub-assembly processes when necessary
* Maintain clean, organised workstations and follow health & safety practices
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives including lean, 5S, and kaizen
* Assist in mentoring junior machinists and apprentices

What We're Looking For:
* Recognised engineering apprenticeship or minimum 10 years' experience in a CNC turning role
* Expert knowledge of CNC lathes (Fanuc, Mazatrol, or similar control systems)
* Solid understanding of metal cutting principles and machining best practices
* Strong ability to work from complex engineering drawings
* Self-sufficient, accurate, and methodical work ethic
* Able to identify drawing or material issues and escalate appropriately
* Commitment to lean manufacturing and a right-first-time approach
* Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious team player

Pay Rate: £25-£35 per hour
