Process Engineer

Location: Hemel Hempstead

Shift: Monday to Friday role (flexible hours)

ProTech recruitment are seeking an experienced SMT Team Lead / Process Engineer to manage and optimise SMT manufacturing operations. This role focuses on ensuring high-quality output, efficient production, and continuous improvement across the SMT line.

Process Engineer Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee SMT line setup, operation, and staff management.

• Plan daily/weekly production schedules and track performance metrics.

• Lead quality initiatives, including AOI and visual inspections to IPC-A-610 standards.

• Ensure accurate SMT inventory and support stocktaking activities.

• Coordinate equipment maintenance and manage external service providers.

• Drive continuous improvement in quality, delivery, and cost.

• Support PCBA rework and assist engineering with NPI activities.

• Develop team capabilities through training, feedback, and performance reviews.

Process Engineer Requirements:

• Proven experience in SMT production or process engineering.

• Minimum 5-10 years' experience in leading a large group of operation headcount.

• Practical experience in SMT PCBA production.

• Working knowledge of SMT machinery, quality standards, and ERP systems.

• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and preventative maintenance practices.
